Council Member Jake Jackson Jake Jackson ran for City Council as a write-in candidate in 2007 and after his two year term, ran again in 2009. Jake's current term will expire in 2013. Prior to running for City Council, Jake served on the Valley Center Library Board for six years; the last two as Chairman. Jake also served on the Valley Center Planning Commission for three years.
Councilmember Jackson, and his wife Judy, have lived in Valley Center for 37 years raising their two sons. Both sons are married and have chosen Valley Center to raise their families. Jake and Judy are the proud grandparents of five grandsons.
Jake retired from his job as a Sales Representative in Sales Management with The Prudential Insurance Company in Wichita.
As a Councilmember, Jake has worked on several projects, including most recently serving as Chair of the committee appointed to research and submit recommendations for a Solid Waste Collection and Recycling Program. In April of 2007, 2009, and again in April 2011, Jake was elected by his fellow Councilmembers to the position of "President of the Council". In this position he conducts the meetings of the Council during any absence of the Mayor.
Jake's main interests for our City are the storm water drainage issues, and alleviating rising water areas throughout the city. Councilmember Jackson wants to see implementation and construction of Senior Citizen Assisted living and Nursing Home facilities in order that as our residents and their parents who have need for those services are not forced to vacate their hometown.
